A GLANCE BACK AT VOTING AND OTHER “LEFTISMS”:
WELCOME TO BABBLE-ON – Pt. 2
Zombie Infauxtainers, Capitalist Media, Pseudo-Rebels, and other Flora:
You Listened to ‘Em, You Voted with ‘Em, Now Live among ‘Em
by Mark S. Tucker
The great enemy of the truth, is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived and dishonest – but the MYTH, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought. - JFK
It’s documented that, though AirAm became the fastest growing network in modern radio history, that generalization is actually more than a little misleading when it comes to real numbers. The station saw its listenership increase from an extraordinarily pitiful 120,000 at 2004 inception to a slightly less ridiculous 400,000 within three months, later reaching a 2.137 million/week peak in 2005, a number that remained constant (that’s what we’re told, anyway). If that sounds even vaguely impressive, look at it again, then take another gander at Limbaugh’s disputed stats. The truth of the matter is that ALL the “Lefties” combined were lucky to get, even if we take Limbaugh down to +/- 10 mil for his audience, one-fifththe listeners Rush Limbaugh alone effortlessly mustered. Alone. No one else. Solo. Five “Lefty” gabbleheads couldn’t equal one fat shitheel Rightie. Embarassing. This reality clawed at the “Left” every day of its air-life, still does, and I suspect its partisans will now go ballistic as I unveil this otherwise hidden datum...or remain dead silent, as is their more familiar custom. This is the first time it’s ever been brought out into the light despite the fact that it was relatively easy to uncover (which is a further nudge to prospective writer/bloggers out there: join me in this gig, it’s easier than it looks).
The “Left” venues have long known it: BuzzFlash, TruthOut, OpEdNews.com, Firedoglake, Daily Kos, all of ‘em, but the reality has been a taboo subject kept well under wraps, damaging to PR, branding, and the illusion necessary to the accommodationist "Left" remaining even peripherally vital. In all truth, Air America was a fucking mess from start to finish. Everyone knew it early on, the diaspora'ed remnants now mutteringly quasi-admitting it every so often in fits of pique. My articles in OpEdNews threatened the initial conspiracy of silence, and the later disintegration and outfall were as I’ve shown, but, as we further inspect Drobny, you’ll find you’ve been lied to a bit more than usual there as well, most often through ever more silence.
First of all, he was well known as an eccentric, normally a good thing but that external claim of eccentricity arose through what has been typified as “well-known LaRouchian sympathies”. Yeah, it’s that munghole Brian Maloney saying so:
…so take it with a house-sized grain of salt…and with good reason. Struat.com tugged on the fishing line Maloney was using, answering it in a not terribly well-informed nor very well written but quite helpful rebuttal:
“… helping finance the Nazis…was fairly common for American industrialists to do pre-WWII, and there was a decent amount of pro-Nazi and anti-Communist sentiment in the throngs of ‘isolationist’ mindsets, so what? Did you hear the one about Prescott Bush helping finance the Nazis after it was illegal to do so? True? I don’t know. It pops up in the mainstream press from time to time (and yes, even past the liberal “Guardian” newspaper) and is the topic of conspiracy theorists throughout the world ever since the name “Bush” became synonymous with “the Establishment” of our government. (“New World Order” indeedy). So, um…apparently because the founder of Air America Radio buys into the concept and because it is shared and brought forward by Lyndon LaRouche, the founder of Air America is a Lyndon LaRouche Sympathizer? Actually, the reason given here is that Sheldon Drobny cited a Lyndon LaRouche sympathizer for an editorial he once wrote. Which, I guess, would make Sheldon Drobny a Lyndon LaRouche sympathizer sympathizer. May the buyer beware.
“There’s a short book he wrote entitled Road to Air America, and he devotes space to this little controversy, and tosses in a couple of mainstream news articles about the “Prescott Bush” phenomenon. More interestingly than a supposed (and false) admiration for Mr. LaRouche is the historical political figure that Drobny is an admirer of: Henry Wallace (and, yes, Drobny provides a “conspiracy theory” on how the political bosses thumped the Democratic Party masses from nominating Wallace for vice president instead of their pick, Harry Truman, at the 1944 nominating convention)”.
Here’s the link:
…and there are a few interesting factoids in those words, but remember: we’re in the age of Omissive Bernaysianism and what’s not said is more important than what is, though this is a case of just enough having been said to discover what’s being 86ed. See that reference to Henry Wallace? It’s meant to paint Drobny as a pinko, a com-symp, a fellow traveler, which, given Drob’s mania for capitalism, is kinda lame. But yes, it’s thatHenry Wallace, the same one recently trotted out by AlterNet and a few other sources in relation to some recent minor scandal, the croaked gentleman’s name handy for imputing Leftness of some undefined sort, but there’s a side to Wallace the “Left” carefully edits into the Phantom Zone when referring to him, and this much avoided tidbit shovels acres of doubt on his “communism”.
Wallace was a fierce Zionist and a maniacal advocate of taking land from the Palestinians and Arabs and giving it to the Jews arriving in the area, into the forming Israel. Part of the argument against the incoming theocracy was the fact that the land couldn’t support such influx and was in fact already overcrowded. Wallace wasn’t having truck with any bosh composed merely of facts, wanting to pack as many newcomers as possible into Israel (makes sense on a practical level: numbers help ensure survival), so he assigned functionary Walter C. Lowdermilk to “discover” a “truth” he, Wallace, had made up. Lowdermilk did so, reporting back that the soil in the region was such that “innovative farming methods” would somehow miraculously provide the ability to support the exact posited 4 million additions.
As Chomsky's so fond of saying, you might want to take a look at that. “Innovative farming methods” is Rhetoric. It means absolutely nothing. Whatever innovation might have been possible, it would’ve been discovered long ago, as the Palestinians and others were quite the farmers. In fact, their ministrations had created what was known world-wide as an Eden, a favorite vacation spot cited as “wondrous”, one of the globe’s wonders, so, yeah, we can see why that location might’ve been pretty desirable in any contemplated takeover, not for any implementation of radical agriculture but to steal the utopia or trample it under foot. What was accomplished worked precisely the latter, making the zone a barracks state and wasteland. So much for “innovative farming”. There was in fact no such innovation to be had, nor had it ever been intended.
Wallace had germinated the idea while Secretary of Agriculture for Roosevelt in the 30s, quizzically dispatching Lowdermilk on a mutli-nation tour to examine soil conditions in various countries. That alone was bizarre. Wallace was, after all, the American agriculture minister and our aggie science, even with dust bowl problems, was the equal of anyone’s in the world, us fully aware of what conditions were right here at home, so why an emissary to look at soil elsewhere? Whatever we mightn't
doing, we could always reference in our vast libraries of info. Lowdermilk, though, soon arrived at something that made everyone scratch their heads, claiming the Negev Desert could be turned into a paradise, a land of plenty. More than a few suspected this fairy tale was the entire reason for L’s dispatch and the whole point of Wallace’s intent.
For that echo service, Wallace cynically called Lowdermilk “the most complete Zionist convert anyone could ask for,” a very strange ideation; Lowdermilk was, after all, just under orders. Wallace was a Protestant and purportedly a devout Christian though increasingly experimental and seemingly a genre-apostate after reading William James’ The Variety of Religious Experience. He was also a 32nd degree Freemason, not Jewish as some have mis-attributed, and thus his apostasy is rather clouded re: that alone. Too, apparently his “devoutness” invoked a high interest in bloodshed (I keep looking for Jesus’ call to butchery and barbarism but have yet to locate it, perhaps a reader can call my attention to that section of the Bible) and was a huge fan of terrorists David Ben-Gurion and Irgun Zvai Leumi underground chief Menachim Begin, both of whom he met in order to express support for their horrific blood-soaked work. Well, by that time, Wallace was veep, and this sort of loose cannon activity prompted FDR to can his ass and insert Harry Truman, something heavily censored in school texts and too many adult history tomes.
Wallace’s so-called Zionism was then seen for what it was, a cynical move to garner the Jewish vote in prep for when he made his move, now in an independent Progressive Party campaign. Hank’s aspirations to take over the top slot prompted more than a few nasty snipes at his top competitor, including, when Truman supported an arms embargo to Israel, claiming that the Big T was “playing politics with the lives of the people of Israel” and that “Jewish blood lies on the hands of Mr. Truman”, etc., the usual schoolyard nonsense with the expected Rhetoric: lives and blood. Wallace was fear-mongering, taking cues from Ben-Gurion and Begin, but it was a good political tactic and nearly cost Truman the presidency. Most Jews, on the other hand, especially the communist and socialist sector, weren’t going for Wallace's self-serving nonsense. Still, Truman received only 55% of the Jewish vote in the key New York state, and that was both unsettling and telling.
Now, how all that figures into Drobny, his admiration for Wallace, and his chaotic radio venture is up for conjecture, but there’s little if anything to admire in the back story, and one must ponder the implications of The Drob’s affinity, wondering if it informed the overall AirAm mess somehow. Was he a Sheldon Adelson in “Left” camouflage?...'cause we saw what became of Adelson’s gambits. Whatever the case, after hand-picked front office parasites Brutused the poor bastard in his own AAR crib – he and cadre'd been lying about finances for years, so the scenario was much in need of obfuscation - he went on to criticize his own creation in HuffPo, attempting to gain a measure of revenge on the quislings while washing blood from his hands. AirAm had toppled and was being bid upon, Drob attacking fellow “Left” reptile Mark Green, who succeeded in obtaining the venue, Shelly’s plaints trampled underfoot. He wasn’t done, though.
AirAm not having been sufficiently disastrous, Drobny went on to form Nova M, a gambit that made AAR look like a product of Solomon. After less than a year, NM was already bankrupt with Drobny named in a major legal suit. He quickly became mentally unstable, attempted suicide, and was hospitalized with a watch posted. Did you hear about that on “Left” radio? I mean, it’s pretty damned big news, right? Yet not a peep. At first the whole thing seemed difficult to verify, and, to this moment, “Left” infauxtainers refuse to speak to the matter, denying it heatedly should any caller manage to blurt out particulars over the air, but, unfortunately for the “Left”iverse, Sheldon’s wife Anita spoke to Stephen Lemons and rhetorically admitted it was all too true.
On 2/17/09, Lemons wrote that he spoke directly “to a weepy Anita Drobny…[and] [s]he would not confirm the rumors about her hubby's suicide attempt, though she did give a non-denial denial on it. ‘My husband had a breakdown, that's the most correct thing I can say,’ she sobbed. ‘A breakdown from all the radio stuff’.” Not enough? Okay, then here’s Randi Rhodes’ lawyer’s, John Gaulin’s, words: “We saw this coming, but are most saddened by the tragic news regarding Sheldon Drobny”. Granted, Lemon was quoting from jackwad Maloney and his blog The Equalizer, but the “Left” never, then or now, refuted any of the claims in any of this. Nor did Shelly. Nor did Anita. There’s a reason for that. Interestingly, extending the benefit of the doubt re: the growing blot on the Drobnys’ name, Lemon asked his audience rhetorically “…are the Drobnys really the heavies everyone's portraying them to be, or is there a secret villain lurking in the wings, probably with an eyepatch and a fake leg?” It’s all right here:
…along with data that the Drobnys, as they’d previously done with AirAm personnel, weren’t paying the wages owed Nova M hosts and that John Manzo of Randi Rhodes fame was suing. Try as I might, though, I can’t seem to locate the ‘god beyond God’, that missing eyepatched mysterioso Lemon conjectures in the Drobnys’ case. Lemon at least ventured a semi-speculation, but the “Left” to this day has observed dead silence, a damning posture though not unexpected. Perhaps a V.V. audient, as the readership numbers quite a few industry people, will be kind enough to drop me a hint so I can winnow out the climax to this drama.
But we turn now to Barack Obama, particulars of whose case tangentially parallel AirAmerica’s and the Drobnys’ in more than one respect, providing a leading-edge milemarker now graven in stone, a sigil arising from an unexpected quarter presently feverishly covered over by the “Left” and, quite curiously, by the Right as well. It’s this: 11 million voters mindfully stayed home during the last Presidential race, did not vote despite shrill exhortations from all sides to do so. They gave the finger to the process.
11 million voters.
Let me say that again, a little more emphatically: 11…MILLION…VOTERS.
Didja catch the noun properly? I’m not talking about just ‘people’, I’m referring to ‘voters’. Every one of them had voted previously, all 11 mil, and this lightning swift dearth had never ever happened in this fashion to this degree in this country ever. Ever. Though they avoid the subject like the plague, the "Left" and the Right fully understand what occurred in that instance and are sweating like pigs over it ’cause what’s goin’ down on the “Left” is also happening on the Right, which, in the latest Obama Drama, suffered reductions as well, just not so dramatically. I'll tell you, though, why the voter abstention is occurring.
It’s because of you and me. This is why I publish V.V. and why others put forth their rags - to slowly effect a shift in consciousness away from the hideously Jurassic modes of the entire capitalism-choked political landscape. Note the adverb: “slowly”. Nothing significant will happen until we’re successful enough to nudge everything to the 25% critical threshold Thomas Paine achieved, but this 11 million figure is a direct result of our efforts. That’s why the “Left” is dead silent on it, why Brad Friedman and BradBlog, pretty much the voting watchdog of the “Left”, censor the fact in various ways, and why I’ve been urging kindred writers to keep the fight up despite malaise and frustration, the sense that it’s all a waste, hopeless. It’s not, it just takes time, and our most telling milestone is in that deafeningly silent figure. We are succeeding, it’s just that many of us, most in fact, don’t know it, and if we don’t keep at it…well, the alternative is just too hideous to think upon anyway.
This gone-missing event, the earthquake departure of 11 mil is EXTREMELY important and was even foreseen in Dem and PDA circles, which is why the entire radio and print “Left” was not long ago running around in circles advocating for a monster, the bloody-handed treasonous war criminal and bankster abettor Barack '
Obama. They knew that ‘ere long - which is to say: very soon - someone was going to notice the tide going out. The rate of desertion was just too big to keep soft peddling. They were terrified (have ya noticed that’s the verb of choice lately?, that ‘terrified’?; there’s a reason for it, it roots in Chomsky), and we are the X factor they don’t want to address, but there was a coinciding element both sides of the equation weren’t noting beyond even that: the true Left, the Marxists, Communists, Trotskyites, anarchists, and etc.
It wasn’t doing so hot either.
